1773 Richard Ellis founded as an "upholder and appraiser" in London, UK

1906 Colbert Coldwell found Tucker, Lynch & Coldwell in San Francisco, USA
Name change in 1936 to Coldwell, Banker & Company

1973 Richard Ellis opened first office in Germany
1991 Coldwell, Banker & Company changed name to CB Commercial

1995 Acquisition of Westmark Realty Advisors. Expands investment management capabilities, now known as CBRE Global Investors

1996 Acquisition of LJ Melody & Co. Becomes a major originator and servicer of US commercial mortgages

1998 Acquisition of Richard Ellis operations in 29 countries outside the UK. Name changed to CB Richard Ellis. Acquisition of Hillier Parker in the United Kingdom.

1999 CB Richard Ellis operates in more than 250 local markets. CB Richard Ellis forms partnership with Ikoma, establishing CB Richard Ellis presence in Japan

2001 Management Buy-Out takes the company private

2003 Acquisition of Insignia. Becomes the industry’s premier service provider with leading operations in New York and London. Reunites CB Richard Ellis global brand name
2004 CBRE launches initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker symbol “CBG”

2005 CB Richard Ellis enters Fortune 1000 list at number 676, and is added to Russell 1000 index.

2006 CB Richard Ellis purchases Trammell Crow. CB Richard Ellis named to  S & P 500.

2007 CB Richard Ellis named to BusinessWeek’s 50 Best in Class Companies. CBRE named one of Fortune’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies

2008 CB Richard Ellis becomes first commercial real estate service provider included in the Fortune 500

2010 CB Richard Ellis voted best property investment advisor by Financial Times.
CB Richard Ellis highest ranked real estate company in Newsweek’s list of the “greenest big companies”

2011 Acquired ING’s real estate investment management business in Europe and Asia and its listed securities business. AUM exceeds $90 billion. Company name changed to CBRE

2012 CBRE is first real estate company ranked among top outsourcing companies globally by IAOP. Wall Street Journal cites CBRE as best real estate brand.

2013 Acquires Norland Managed Services Ltd, the leading provider of building technical engineering services in the U.K. and Ireland. Voted Euromoney’s global real estate advisor of the year for second year in a row

2014 CBRE voted Fortune’s most admired real estate services company for fourth consecutive year.
CBRE Germany acquired VALTEQ Gesellschaft mbH and PREUSS Unternehmensgruppe
